Eileen Jackson: parent to former District students, experienced Governing Board member, dedicated school and community volunteer

I am running for re-election to the Catalina Foothills Governing Board.  I’ve lived in this District for 32 years and my husband and I were delighted to send our children to CFSD schools K through 12th grade.  Three graduate and one doctorate-in-process degrees later, all three of our children credit the program at CFSD as the foundation of their continued academic and professional success.

I have been a passionate public school supporter even pre-dating my 12 years of Governing Board service.  I’ve advocated to increase funding to all public schools through my work with the Arizona Education Parent Network and specifically for CFSD’s bonds and override measures via my membership in FRIENDS of CFSD.  I spent several years as an FFO volunteer and president. My wider community involvement has included supporting children in foster care as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), teaching religious education classes at St. Thomas the Apostle Church and teaching newly eligible seniors about their Medicare rights and choices.  I handle the administrative functions of our family  law firm and perform paralegal duties as well.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working for the CFSD community as a Governing Board member. I ask for your vote to allow me to continue my effort to preserve the excellence of CFSD for all future students to come.

My commitment to you

As an elected, non-partisan member of CFSD’s Governing Board, I will work closely with my colleagues on the Board, the administration, staff, parents and community members to deliver on my commitment to you.

Put Students First by providing the best education possible.

Our most important responsibility is the close monitoring of our success in increasing student achievement and the preservation of our multi-faceted academic offerings that feature challenging options in all core subject areas: English language arts, math, science, social studies, performing/fine arts and CTE courses.

Work to attract and retain the best teachers and staff

I pledge to continue our work toward increasing the District’s compensation package for the human resources that are so crucial to our students’ success.  Continuing to monitor the climate of our schools and District as a whole is also integral to the recruiting and retention process.

Work to Maintain a Welcoming, Caring School  Environment for All Students

This will entail the continued funding of school counselors, the integration of  self-awareness, social awareness,  self-management, relationship skills and responsible decision-making into our coursework and the administration of inclusive policies that allow all students to feel safe and free to learn.

I’m proud of the many contributions I’ve made to our CFSD schools

Over the past 27 years, my willingness to show up for our children, teachers and community has made a substantive, positive difference.

  • Served as President of the Sunrise Drive and Orange Grove FFOs over multiple years;

  • Raised funds for all three of my children’s schools as Book Fair chair, Math-a-Thon chair, Silent Auction chair, CFHS Directory chair and more;

  • Chaired the Student Action Committee at Orange Grove, working with the students to plan and operate fund raisers and community services for students’ favorite charitable causes.
